Qualitative annotated bibliography

Based on the potential problem you encountered for Family Nurse Practitioners, you will continue to review current research and write four QUALITATIVE annotated bibliographies (one page each). The articles must come from nursing scholarly literature and may not be older than 5 years since publication. Please note that the articles must be research based and reflect a QUALITATIVE methodology.

Problem: FNPs do not cover the entire scope of the society’s health needs. The problem of poor staffing, inexperience, and lack of motivation have undermined the capacity of FNPs to deliver quality services that accord with the society’s health needs.

Each annotation must address the following critical elements:

  • Explanation of the main purpose and scope of the cited work
  • Brief description of the research conducted
  • Value and significance of the work (e.g., study’s findings, scope of the research project) as a contribution to the subject under consideration
  • Possible shortcomings or bias in the work
  • Conclusions or observations reached by the author
  • Summary as to why this research lends evidence to support the potential problem identified specific to your role specialization.

Describe one or more situations that illustrate social or cultural humility, or insensitivity, among your colleagues in a manner that fostered improved peer cooperation or efficacy of patient care or impeded such care.

Health conditions, including heart disease and respiratory infections, have no borders. What happens in one part of the world has ripple effects through the other parts, including the United States. Technology has created an even smaller world, with nurses in instant contact and eager to share information.

You and your nursing colleagues live and work around this shrinking professional world. Your nursing experience working with diverse populations presents a rich opportunity to share your international health perspectives. This exercise is a growth opportunity in terms of how we see ourselves, the world, and how we interact with our patients during the health interview and health assessment process.

In this week’s Discussion, your stories will illustrate relevant social and cultural differences among yourselves and your patients. The collective experience will expand your individual nursing knowledge; improve upon our cultural humility and perspectives, in order to foster social and culturally-sensitive health interviews and assessments. This, in turn, contributes to safer and higher quality outcomes for your patients. Consider how your sensitive care is expressed through choice of your words, maintaining a distance that is culturally appropriate, and utilizing other techniques to negotiate through established social and cultural values. This leads to patient trust and comfort and a respectful nurse-patient relationship.

a 2-paragraph response (at least 250–350 words) to one of the options below. Develop and post cohesive paragraphs, and use evidence to support your ideas.

power point

Locate at least 4 contemporary peer-reviewed articles or dissertation or thesis research studies that are quantitative or mixed-methods in nature (experimental, quasi-experimental, descriptive or pre-experimental/survey, etc.) related to your topic of interest for your paper and PowerPoint presentation. Complete the following:

  • Summarize the type of study and phenomenon of interest
  • Discuss whether the sample and population used was appropriate
  • Summarize results, limitations of results, conclusions, and applications
  • Compare the results, conclusions, and applications among all 4 studies in a summary paragraph.
  • Describe the statistical method used in the cited research studies.

Additionally, create 4 PowerPoint slides that detail the most applicable results associated with each quantitative or mixed-methods study to your topic of interest and area of application or function related to health care.

Deliverable Length: 3–5 pages, excluding cover page, abstract page, and reference page. Students need to support their work with at least 4 academic or professional peer-reviewed sources published within the past 5 years.

Discussion: Women’s and Men’s Health, Infectious Disease, and Hematologic Disorders

As an advanced practice nurse, you will likely experience patient encounters with complex comorbidities. For example, consider a female patient who is pregnant who also presents with hypertension, diabetes, and has a recent tuberculosis infection. How might the underlying pathophysiology of these conditions affect the pharmacotherapeutics you might recommend to help address your patient’s health needs? What education strategies might you recommend for ensuring positive patient health outcomes? For this Discussion, you will be assigned a patient case study and will consider how to address the patient’s current drug therapy plans. You will then suggest recommendations on how to revise these drug therapy plans to ensure effective, safe, and quality patient care for positive patient health outcomes.

                                            To Prepare

Review the Resources for this module and reflect on the different health needs and body systems presented.Review the complex case asisgned by your Instructor for this Discussion.

Consider how you will practice critical decision making for prescribing appropriate drugs and treatment to address the complex patient health needs in the patient case study you selected.

Post a brief description of your patient’s health needs from the patient case study you assigned. Be specific.

Then, explain the type of treatment regimen you would recommend for treating your patient, including the choice or pharmacotherapeutics you would recommend and explain why.

Be sure to justify your response.

Explain a patient education strategy you might recommend for assisting your patient with the management of their health needs.

Be specific and provide examples.

                                             Case Study

A 66-year-old, 70-kg woman with a history of MI, HTN, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes mellitus presents with sudden-onset diaphoresis, nausea, vomiting, and dyspnea, followed by a bandlike upper chest pain (8/10) radiating to her left arm.

She had felt well until 1 month ago, when she noticed her typical angina was occurring with less exertion.

Electrocardiography showed ST-segment depression in leads II, III, and aVF and hyperdynamic T waves and positive cardiac enzymes. BP = 150/90 mm Hg, and all labs are normal; SCr =1.2 mg/dL. Home medications are aspirin 81 mg/day, simvastatin 40 mg every night, metoprolol 50 mg twice daily, and metformin 1 g twice daily.

I will be using a quantitative approach for my evidence-based proposal. I believe that this approach will  best choice in identifying the needed information and measuring the strengths and preferences of my research that may suggest a result or will need further investigation. It will allow me to measure and explore the relationship between the variables in my study.

Impact of Finance on Program Success

Money is an important resource, but it is not the only resource that matters when it comes to program design and evaluation. In fact, having sufficient money, in itself, does not equate to having a quality program or even a financially successful one. Financial strategy dictates how money is spent and allocated. With this in mind, what are the most important considerations to bear in mind as you design your program?

To prepare:

  • Review      the financial analysis information presented in the Learning Resources.
  • Conduct      additional research of your own to further your understanding of use of      cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, and cost-benefit. Feel free to share      resources that you find beneficial with your colleagues.
  • How      do these concepts apply to your program planning and help to facilitate      quality program outcomes?

By tomorrow Tuesday 1/15/19 by 6 pm post a minimum of 550 words essay in APA format with a minimum of 3 scholarly reference (see required reading list below). Include the level one headers as numbered below:

Post a cohesive scholarly response that addresses the following:

1) Which method of financial analysis is most appropriate for your program (breast cancer among African American women in the United stated)? Provide your rationale.

2) What are the financial implications of not addressing the problem you have identified for your target population?

3) What are the differences between the long-term and the short-term implications of not addressing the problem?

4) How does your selected financial analysis strategy relate to the quality of program outcomes?

Using the area of interest from Week 1, identify the following.

· Will you be using a quantitative or qualitative approach for your EBP project proposal? QUANTITATIVE

· Explain why this approach is the best one to provide information for your area of interest. BECAUSE ITS GOING TO SHOW EFFECTIVENESS OF PARENTS GIVING THEIR NEWBORNS VACCINES AFTER THE “EDUCATION PROGRAM” HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED

· Create a PICOT/PICo question using the PICOT/PICo format for quantitative and PICo for qualitative approaches.

· Identify your practice question, being sure to include the following.

  • For a quantitative approach
  • A         questioning part such as “what is,” “what are,”         “is there,” or “are there”
  • Population         being studied
  • Variables         being studied
  • Suggestion         of the relationship between variables
  • For a qualitative approach
    • Phenomenon        or concept of interest
    • Group        or population of interest
    • Suggestion of which        qualitative research design is being used

MY PICO(T) QUESTION FOR QUANTITATIVE

Population: the population of interest is parents of newborns

Intervention: The suggested intervention is an education program to bring an understanding of the importance of vaccinations specifically Vitamin K, hepatitis B, and erythromycin eye ointment within 12 hours of birth. During this intervention, parent that decide to vaccinate or not vaccinate their newborns after participating in the education program will be measured.

Comparison: Mothers who decide to give newborn vaccinations at birth versus

mothers who don’t.

Outcome: The anticipated result was that education would increase parental knowledge about vaccination acceptance leading to more children receiving their newborn vaccinations at birth.

Time: The proposed time intervals for the above project problem will be about three to four-month period.
